Kagome is a normal high school girl, until her cat goes down a mysterious well. There's a huge centipede demon in that
well that pulls her down 500 years into the past. To defeat the centipede, she must awaken a half dog demon named InuYasha,
who a priestess named Kikyou sealed to a tree 50 years prior. The centipede draws from Kagome the Jewel of Four
Souls (Shikkon no Tama/Shikon Jewel), which Kagome accidentally shatters. The quest to retrieve the shards begins, as does
the first main plot of the series.
